The Friendly Kitchen has been serving meals to seniors in the Roseburg area for 50 years. Our mission is to provide meals five days per week through home delivery in the Roseburg area, and at our central kitchen and dining facility located at Umpqua Community College, to address the nutritional and fellowship needs of seniors, homebound residents, and disabled adults.

To meet our mission, we offer two programs:

  • Meals On Wheels, which delivers a meal every weekday to those who are homebound or unable to prepare their own meals.

  • Our in-house dining program, which serves a flavorful, nutritious meal for takeout every Monday through Friday at our spacious dining hall. We are located at Umpqua Community College.

Our History

The Friendly Kitchen opened its doors to seniors at the Faith Lutheran Church on Kenwood Ave in the fall of 1972.

In 1973 The Friendly Kitchen obtained non-profit status as a 501(c)(3) corporation. For over fifty years we have helped seniors and people with disabilities, curb hunger and isolation through good nutrition and fellowship.

Remembering Helen Lesh and so many other fine leaders who had the vision, compassion and volunteer spirit to make The Friendly Kitchen vital in our community.
